Branding for LocalConta

Posted May 7th, 2012 in Uncategorized by HollyAmlin

I was contacted a couple weeks ago to make a logo for LocalConta, a professional networking site where Tax, Accounting  & Finance Specialists connect online and share their expertise. I had a great time working on this, and the client is very happy with it. Not only did I develop the logo, but I expanded the brand with a square format initial version of the logo and a favicon. The color version of the logo with the tagline. The black and white version of the logo without the tagline. The initial format of the logo.

Branding for Dinner at the Rafns’

Posted September 12th, 2011 in Uncategorized by HollyAmlin

This week’s post is about branding that I developed for Dinner at the Rafns’. This farm-to-table supper-club is located in Salem, Oregon, and is hosted by Nate and Rochelle Rafn. They pride themselves on making a delicious three course meal with local foods (sometimes right from their backyard garden). When they use ingredients from a local farm, they will invite the farmer to the dinner to begin conversation about their product. I think this is a really cool feature of their dinners, because you can talk about where your food came from!

They host their supper-club once a month, and you’re just in time to reserve a spot at the next one! It’s September 18th at 6PM, and reservations are made through their website: Dinner at the Rafns’. You can find more details on the website as well. 95% of the profits go towards funding Living Culture TV, “a television series that showcases cuisine and agriculture in the Willamette Valley and Pacific Northwest,” that is produced by Nate Rafn.

For their branding, they wanted to incorporate familiar elements from Living Culture TV, a sense of conversation, and a local focus on Oregon. To emphasize that it was a dining experience, these elements were highlighted on the three plates you see below. The Rafns’ branding turned out classy and fresh! I’m really happy to have worked on this project with them, and I think it turned out great!

Promotional Postcard for Red Pearl Designs

Posted August 24th, 2011 in Uncategorized by HollyAmlin

Another project that I completed at my internship at Red Pearl Designs was this promotional postcard.  They had recently updated their branding, and wanted a new postcard to match. The die-cut Luxe Card was produced by Miller’s Lab Professional Imaging, which offers many different die-cut options (if you’re ever in the market). This postcard will be out at Bridal Shows, venues that support Red Pearl Designs, and at Studio | 430 (a shared studio space between Red Pearl Designs, Ashley Sturm Photography, With This Ring, and Bridal Alterations by Mary).

I really enjoyed working on this with Megan, and to help her solidify her branding. A promotional postcard can be very useful in giving a client more information about your business, while at the same time giving them an example of what you do. I think this postcard turned out really well, it looks beautiful and has great appeal to its target market.

The front of the card introduces the business and showcases several images.
The back of the card gives the reader some valuable information about the business.
This card will be a take away item at Bridal Shows, etc.
Shiny paper adds a little more pizzaz to this Luxe postcard by Miller’s Lab.

Custom designed wedding invitation set. I drew and illustrated the gardenia flower, and created the layout for the pieces. Includes invitation, reply card and reception card. The set was one of the first things that I made for Red Pearl Designs, as part of my summer internship. You can see more pictures of the set at their blog.
