Programs for a Rustic Barn Wedding

This weekend, Greg and I had the opportunity to attend the wedding of one of his work friends, Joel & Allise. They got married at a beautiful, semi-wooded property, that had a spacious barn (not pictured) for the reception. Their colors were gray, peach and white, with accents of wood, twine and lace.

As a gift to them, I offered to design their programs. I worked with Allise on getting all the elements together first, then took her style direction and ran with it. She told me that she wanted something traditional and elegant, yet rustic at the same time. At first, I studied her save-the-dates and invitations to look for ways to make the programs feel cohesive. Adobe Garamond was the carry through font, and I chose Lady Rene to add the rustic touches. Allise chose the tall, skinny format of the programs, which I loved as well. They turned out great, and she LOVED them.

Below are some pictures of the elements at the wedding, to showcase how the program fits into the style of the event. I’m happy that I could be a part of their big day, even in a small way. Congratulations Joel & Allise!

A Foggy Day in Lincoln City

My Dad and I took a trip over to Lincoln City on Friday, and we were expecting some sunny weather. What we got was a warm, foggy, wind-less day. We took the dogs, Rosie and Mia, with us. Mia, my parent’s new yellow lab, is 6 months old now, and still growing! Both the dogs love the beach, especially being able to run after the tennis ball. It was fun watching them play together. :)

Even though it was foggy, I got a some good pictures. Enjoy!

Friday Pinterest Inspiration Board: Graphic Designer Gifts

Well, it’s Friday! It’s shaping up to be a beautiful sunny weekend here in the Northwest.

I wanted to share a couple gifts that I’ve found around the internet that would be good for Graphic Designers. I’m planning to do a sequel to this post about gadgets, so don’t get too upset that there isn’t an iPad or Wacom tablet on this list. Think of the items below as birthday gifts or stocking stuffers. Cute little things to make a designer smile. :)
